Fenwick Food Hall
You’ll be welcomed by friendly staff and gorgeous interiors at Mason & Rye. Beneath the shiny glass counter, you’ll find picture-perfect homemade cakes and pastries, as well as indulgent meringues peeping through neatly piped cream and fruit toppings – it’s a must.
When the only answer is chocolate, follow the scent to Hotel Chocolat which is home to everything from stylish slabs of homemade chocolate to chocolaty booze – yes please! We even discovered they host secret out of hours chocolate lock-ins!
Say hello to Pet Lamb Patisserie and oodles of sweet treats from mega brownies to whopping slices of cake in every flavour. Warning – following their Instagram will make you want cake all of the time, guilty!
Great British Cupcakery
Just along the Quayside from our front door is Great British Cupcakery. This Quayside sanctuary bakes up the most Instagrammable desserts and is the perfect backdrop for some seriously gram-worthy snaps. The cupcake counter is too good to be true, with heaps of flavours and toppings to choose from.
If you’re in Jesmond and need a sugar fix, head over to Cake Stories on Brentwood Avenue. We could spend all day here watching the world go by with a coffee and slice of red velvet cake – dreamy! Savoury options like bagels and homemade cheese scones are available too, but we’re all about the dessert!
Proven Goods Co.
Don’t forget doughnuts! Proven Goods Co. are the masters of homemade doughnuts, you’d be nuts not to call in. A salted caramel doughnut filled with ice cream and crunchy toppings will go down just the treat. Takeaway boxes make for the perfect prezzie or just something for later in front of Netflix, mmm…
So Newcastle, you’re totally spoiling us when it comes to sweet treats, long may that continue! However, dieters beware!
